Archimedes of Syracuse 287 BCE to 212 BCE - A famous Greek inventor and mathematician. Said to have studied in Alexandria, he made breakthroughs in physics, mathematics, and fluid mechanics. Archimedes is also known for making incredible war machines used to defend Syracuse against the Romans.
