Hipparchos of Nicaea 190 BCE to 120 BCE - A Greek astronomer and founder of trigonometry. Hipparchus possibly invented the astrolabe and made one of the earliest star catalogs in the Western world. He also may have been one of the first people to make accurate calculations to predict solar eclipses.
