Ashurbanipal 685 BCE to 627 BCE - The last significant king of the Neo-Assyrian Empire. Ashurbanipal achieved the largest territorial gain for the Assyrians, but the gain soon vanished into civil war after his death. He amassed a large collection of cuneiform documents now know as the Library of Ashurbanipal.
