AvicennaAbu Ali al-Husayn ibn Abd Allah ibn Sina 980 CE to 1037 CE - One of the most influential philosopher scientist to come out of the Islamic Golden Age. He was a student of philosophy and medicine, but went on to make many works in other fields such as astronomy, alchemy, and mathematics. His book "The Canon of Medicine" was still being used as a text book up until the mid 17th century.
