Justinian I 482 CE to 565 CE - Emperor of the Byzantine Empire, he spent much of his reign regaining control of the Western Roman Empire, which had been lost to various groups such as the Vandals, Huns, and Franks. Justinian also had a major impact on law. Many of the reforms he made to civil law are still found today.
