Flavius Valerius Aurelius Constantinus Augustus 272 CE to 337 CE - Son of Constantius, co-emperor of Rome. He was declared emperor after his father died of illness during a campaign in Britain. Constantine was the first Roman emperor to convert to Christianity. He built a new imperial home in Byzantium, which is later renamed Constantinople, that becomes the center for the Byzantine Empire.
