Salaf al-Din Yusuf ibn Ayyub 1137 CE to 1193 CE - Saladin was the first Sultan of Egypt. He led the opposition to the European forces in the third Crusades while also capturing Jerusalem. Saladin started the Ayyubid dynasty ruling most of the southern shores of the Mediterranean.
