Sesostris III 1910 BCE to 1839 BCE - A pharaoh of the Twelfth Dynasty that expanded his territory deep into Nubia and established major river forts along the way. Senusret also ordered major canal projects and may be responsible for the Canal of Pharaohs that connected the Nile to the Red Sea. During his reign there was relative peace and economic growth in Egypt.
